Go ahead and do this little experiment yourself. Login to Amazon. Choose Kindle ebooks. Then choose Gay and Lesbian. Over 90% of the titles in the first five pages are gay-man fiction. The only lesbian titles? Erotica (not that there's anything wrong with that!). Lesbian writers, where are you???
I'M HERE! I'M HERE! I have two short stories in the Kindle store under Gay & Lesbian. Look up "Sara Elizabeth." I have a book that I am trying to get published for this very reason.

I think part of it is Amazon's taxonomy. Try it this way and the results are a little better:

The other issue is that some publishers are selling their ebooks only through their own websites -- so the print will show up on Amazon but the ebook won't.
